Figure/Ground Architects is collaborating with AECOM, on behalf of the Planning Advisory Service, to provide procedural and technical assistance in connection with the delivery of two pilot schemes for residential Local Development Orders (LDOs); one in Hatfield, Hertfordshire and the other in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire. Best known in connection with Local Enterprise Zones, LDOs have been little used for residential developments, despite the fact that they allow local authorities to specify the types of new development in their area that would have automatic planning permission.
